Make it fun!
The experience of decluttering and downsizing means freeing up space, which leads to spiritual liberation. This feeling is often the main goal of why people choose this path, I was no exception.
While I was on my journey, I started wanting to test out what I could do with the freed up spaces in various locations inside my home. The journey doesn’t have to be boring, it rather opens up to new doors for us to explore.
It’s almost like clearing up your own home, and moving back into it. I wanted to reorganized and redecorate from scratch.
My home is approx 800 sqft, all walls are plain white, and I wanted to create a nature/happy theme. Some of the things I did was to buy leafy wall decor, add fairy lights on the ceiling, and add some wall shelves.
I have to say it was a lot of fun, it was like being a little girl, letting imagination go wild, and making it come true!
After all, mankind has lived in nature for thousands of years, it must be innate that we are desperate for green(nature) and bright (the sun) atmosphere.
I was very content with my work, never had I imagined that I could feel such a refreshed feeling inside a home that I lived in for a good number of years.
Since then, I kind of wake up with more joy and happiness, and the best thing is, I was more solution driven, for my job, my kids, and pretty much most of the aspects of my life. I started focusing on how to resolve things, rather than arguing and blaming why unideal things happened.
The positive changes I made for my home, actually triggered changes in myself, for the better.
Everything IS a state of mind.
Trying out something new or different will bring a lot of joy and good changes, give it a try!
