Is hoarding a bad thing?

When I hear the term hoarding, I do get a little nervous, as I’m aware that more stuff = less time and space.

I’m able to choose less, because less is what gives me comfort. But when I think about why I can work with less, then I realize it’s thanks to the ample materials and products all around me (at home or in stores), and I was fortunate to be able to grow up in an environment where I never had to worry about not having enough.

Meanwhile, had I been born a few decades back in an age where things were scarce, or in a household that’s less economically stable, then my environment would’ve been totally different. I’d be living with more fear of not having enough, then naturally my mind would tell me to hold onto things as much as possible, because who knows when I’d be able to have access to more. I would have potentially become someone who constantly wanted to hold onto things. It may be human psychology.

There are no wrong answers. Whatever works for the individual, is simply the approach they should take.

Whether a household is filled with lots of things, enough things, or minimal things, it’s a reflection of the people’s state of mind, a way they express their eagerness to live their lives.

More stuff so there’s no worry about shortage.

Less stuff so there’s no worry about organizing.

These are all the right answers.

These are all the ways people show their love towards life.
